At annerykiln we design very good websites
Broomhill Sculpture Gardens
With our reputation for careful conversion of artists’ images to a web page – involving a careful compromise between keeping the file sizes small but maintaining a high quality of reproduction –
Association of Teachers of Mathematics
A large and information rich website which supports the work of one of the UK’ leading teacher associations.
It features its own custom built shopping cart for the Association’ resources and in the early Autumn of 2006 will have a password protected private members’ area with a custom-built username and password management system.
This site is not only maintained by Annery Kiln but is edited and continually developed by us.
The site and membership communication is supported by a series of regular e-newsletters which are managed by us in accordance with the relevant regulations.
I Want a Website
The first place anyone should go as soon as they are thinking about getting a website or looking for a redesign of any existing website.
How do you tell a good designer from a cowboy? What questions should you first ask yourself and then your potential designer? Here a re the answers, the crib sheets and the tips
.Dinsdale Petch Metal Founder
Presenting the products and services produced by this high-quality bronze and precious metal founder.
Provides a showcase for Dinsdale’s popular miniatures and an e-newsletter sign up and management system for collectors.
Quay Event Management
A high-quality design which presents the event management services of this company.
The use of animation and morphing images are optimised to provide highest possible quality while consuming as little bandwidth as possible in recognition of the fact hat not all potential clients will be on a broadband connection.
Beaford Arts
This client wanted a system that was partly maintained by them and partly by us. They had been using a ‘what’s on’ diary management system provided – at great expense ‘off-the-shelf’. Because it had to cater for all sorts of uses, it was ridiculously complex and unwieldy.
For a fraction of the cost, we devised a system that fits around their way of working and allows for some of the particular nuances of their booking system – such as the same event at different venues – and is, most importantly, simple to run.
Other aspects of the site are more cost-effectively maintained through us by simple exchange of emails. Updates usually occurring within 12 hours of the request.
Tony Dixon Music
This website started as a simple online brochure and showcase. It has since developed into an online shop and we are currently developing a bespoke shopping cart and online payment system to support the huge upturn in business that the website has generated.
North Devon Ferries
We are very keen to see the development of a ferry service from North Devon to Wales and Ireland. We believe it would further stimulate the North Devon economy.
It will, of course, also mean we can pop over to Cork for the odd weekend!
Castle Film Office
A film location website. Visitors can arrange to register their property, register as an extra or to provide services to film companies.
Location hunters can use the bespoke search system to find suitable properties for their film. All linked with Google maps through an interface which displays properties on a map or on a satellite image of the area.
Initial Teacher Education in Mathematics
Funded by the Training and Development Agency this website provides a central reference point for higher education teachers involved in the training of mathematics teachers.
Devising a simple way of categorising the documents and references available was a challenge which we believe we met without resorting to an unwieldy search engine system.
Devon Artist Network
A showcase for members of the Devon Artist Network and an online joining and membership management system. This allows members to change the images displayed with their entry at any time. Designed with muted colours in order not to detract from the artists’ work.
Images are carefully optimised to allow maximum download speed balanced with image quality.
North Devon Acupuncture
A straightforward and simple site designed to act as an online brochure to which the client can refer enquiries. It also acts as the first referral point for responses to any advertising or publicity created by the client. It uses a ‘state-of-the-art’ style-sheet technique to create flexible sized boxes with rounded corners for the main content.
Bright Planet
This client wanted a site that led to two different facets of their business but retaining an overall ‘corporate style’.
The design was kept very simple but wanted to get away from the usual vertical and horizontal lines of most websites. The colours were combined to create a translucent effect reminiscent of the two businesses — lighting and video.
South West Forest
A central information point that encompasses all the activities and projects for South West Forest. It provides access to booking training courses and downloads for information and advice.
Maintained on a contract which covers next working day amendments notified by email from the client.
Woodfair South West
An off-shoot of South West Forest, this aspect of their work required its own website to provide details of the greater number of events being launched under the WoodFair banner.
Weare Giffard Village Community
A website we manage for our local community. It is provided free-of-charge.
One of the continuing difficulties of sites like this is galvanising people into providing up-to-date information to keep the site current. It will eventually have links to police and highways information relevant to the village.
Winterweave - Joanna Winterburn
A photographer and consultant who wanted to have a website to provide support for other publicity. As she is in the early stages of the business, she wanted to keep it simple and at low-cost to start with. We have, however, designed it to allow future developments to be accommodated without complicated re-design work.
British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics
A plain and simple yet easily navigable website for this educational research institution. We maintain the site, adding updates on a monthly basis. We were also able to convert old publications into modern PDF files which brought their old paper based publications into the online domain for educational researchers worldwide.
Cloister Park Cottages
An accommodation site with a handy availability system online – updated by the client. We are developing a bespoke online reservation system for the 2007 season.
Cwmcroiddur Cottages
A holiday accommodation website which we maintain for the client on email instructions. In fact, we have never actually met this client face-to-face! The internet allows good communication across continents as well as countries.
Barraston Nursery
A developing website which, as well as being an online presence for Barraston Nursery in Scotland, will – once the current busy summer season is over – include an online reference for a large database of bedding and other plants.
We discussed with the client the value of providing high-quality reference information on their site since this is one of the major factors in encouraging visitors to return to a website and thus remember it when they want to buy.
Barton Court
A holiday accommodation provider with a difference – therapies and courses are an additional service.
The client had always kept their reservations information on a plain spreadsheet for their own reference – all we did was to take that spreadsheet and allow them to upload as it is to the website to provide the regularly updated availability information for their cottages and barn. A low cost data management system that uses the client’s way of working rather than forcing them to learn an unnecessarily complicated new website management system.
Blanchard Security
Simple and developing site which acts as an online brochure for the client. A small animation is included to indicate the breadth of equipment that the client can supply. It is kept small to allow for the fact that many potential clients, particularly in rural areas, are still not accessing the Internet using a broadband (fast) connection.
JoyDays
A website designed after the company’s corporate identity was planned and printed. We needed to reflect the style and scheme that had already been committed to ink on paper.
It replaced an all-singing and dancing (expensive) Flash created website which was – unsurprisingly – getting nowhere with Google. We created this for a fraction of the cost of the original. Now it loads ten times faster and was generating business through search engine rankings within weeks.
Local VAT Campaign
A website promoting the introduction of a system of locally raised VAT to replace the current Council Tax and Business Rates system for funding local government in the UK.
Statistical analysis and presentation carried out by us. The site invites comment to stimulate a constructive debate on the issues involved.
Use Your Loft Ladders
An online brochure website to support local newspaper advertising.
This site regularly appears in the top rankings of Google and attracts many leads in its own right.
Rustico Acres
One of our Canadian clients. A simple site extolling the attractions of a self-catering cabin holiday in Maritime Canada’s Prince Edward Island.
Rydon Inn
The Rydon Inn gastro-pub is supported by this website which requires minimal maintenance with downloadable copies of menus and an updatable section for testimonials and awards.
South Molton Tourist Information
South Molton Tourist Information Centre had a spreadsheet system for keeping track of all their accommodation, what’s on and local directory databases. with just a few small tweaks to the way they used it we provided a simple system for them to upload the existing databases as often as they like to keep the website information up-to-date.
North Devon Spring Festivals
A portal page providing links to the various festivals that occur in North Devon.
Sure Start Bideford
Providing a resource for parents and carers of young children in the Bideford area.
We are working with Sure Start to develop new ways of keeping the website up-to-date given the pressures on the organisation’s administrative time.
Great Torrington Tourist Information
Another Tourist Information site which provides a simple to use means of finding accommodation as well as general and specific information about the town and its area.
We were originally approached to provide a searchable database for accommodation but it was clear that this would be an unnecessary expense when website visitors clearly prefer a scrollable list from which they can pick and choose. This has proved very successful and at a fraction of the cost of the alternatives that many designers might wish to provide.
